Visual Facilitation

Visual facilitation is a unique way to engage your team. It brings new energy to strategic planning processes, gets creative juices flowing in ideation sessions, and builds the connections necessary for making effective decisions as a team.

I design workshops that get your team talking, problem-solving, deciding, and connecting – with a bit of creative joy. My methods are grounded in the participatory consensus-building methods of ICA Associates.

Network Engagement

You’ve built a network of brilliant, thoughtful people. But how do you get the make the most of their time when you bring them together in one room?

A custom, facilitated network engagement session.

TRANSFORM HF, a network of heart failure patients, researchers, clinicians, and trainees, wanted to create a meaningful opportunity for collaboration at their annual gathering. Working with their needs, I facilitated a fast-paced, structured networking session. Participants connected over shared interests, and with a little bit of added structure, they were able to identify new areas of collaboration for future research.

Alongside the networking session, I created an engagement board that gathered members’ perspectives on what makes TRANSFORM HF special. These insights will seed future planning and priorities for the team.

Strategic Planning

A strong strategic plan is a path to organizational transformation. When participatory decision-making, group ideation, and focused conversations converge with custom visuals, teams create plans that stick.

When the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Minnesota was seeking to clarify and focus their vision, I worked with them to co-create a two-day planning retreat. Together, we defined the story of IAS for different audiences (within and beyond the University). With consensus-building workshops, we identified blocks they were facing and strategies for achieving their vision. Together, management and staff created an action plan for aligning existing resources to implement their work.

Taking up the metaphor of rivers, I created custom graphics and visual activities to focus our work. Nearly a year later, these visual components are still on the walls of the IAS office.

People support what they create.

Here’s what strategic planning and facilitation looks like with DTM Studio:

  • Fill out a brief form with some quick info

  • Schedule a check-in call so I can get to know you, your story, and the big questions you’re facing with your team

  • Co-design the facilitation process — I will share processes, you will give feedback based on your team’s needs

  • Research and preparatory meetings, including surveys, interviews, and feedback sessions

  • Finalize our facilitation plan — whether we are working in-person or remote, all of the details will be just right

  • The big day! I will lead you and your team through customized processes and exercises to build connection, make decisions, and develop action plans

  • I will put together a final report, ready for you to share as widely as you wish, as well as action planning materials so you and your team can bring your vision to life
