Live Illustration

Live illustration is a visual summary, drawn live and in the moment, to the delight of your guests, speakers, and clients.

Live illustration goes by many names: graphic recording, creative visual notes, sketchnoting, live scribing.

Whatever you call it, the result is an at-a-glance summary that extends the impact of your event beyond time spent together in the room.

Research Symposium

Five talks, one half day symposium on supporting a healthy research culture through building healthier research teams. This event was hosted by the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto.

I live illustrated all five talks for this in-person event (and was a presenter!), which were later shared with participants.

Virtual Conferences

A 48-hour festival of facilitators leading sessions they have never done before? An ideal space for live illustration!

I live illustrated three fabulous sessions for the Never Done Before Festival 2024, a global virtual conference. Joining via zoom, I drew from my studio and instantaneously shared my illustrations with participants at the end of each session.

Workshops & Trainings

Amazing workshops look great when they are live illustrated.

I worked with Emily Doucet of Framing Devices to live illustrate her virtual DIY Developmental Editing workshop with a one-page visual summary. The visual summary captured all of the key ideas, editing prompts, and valuable guidance Emily shared.

Networking Events

If your network is amazing, your networking event should be too! I worked with Robb Gilbear’s Growth Habit business community to live illustrate their annual DO BOLD SH!T networking event in Toronto. With my markers in hand (in Robb’s signature orange), I illustrated bold stories from coaches, consultants, and creative entrepreneurs. As participants declared the bold things they are working toward, I captured that energy in my sketchbook pages.

The best part? Participants got to re-live that energy and commitment when we shared the final illustrations after the event. There is nothing like live illustrated visual summaries to build on the momentum of an incredible event.

Keynote Addresses

When TRANSFORM HF brought together their network of patients, physicians, researchers, and trainees, they wanted their keynote address to be remembered. I live illustrated Dr. Fiona Miller’s presentation on Sustainability in Digital Health and Leonard Benoit’s moving land acknowledgement.

Participants received the one-page visual summary after the event.
