Infographics

Infographics and vision maps are engaging visuals that summarize your workshop, presentation, or big idea.

An infographic is a one-page illustration that feels like a gift, rather than a powerpoint deck that will never been seen again.

Are you a creative business-owner, coach, or service provider? Do you struggle to help potential clients see that magical thing you do? A visual journey map shows who you are, how you work, and what it feels like to work with you. Working together, we will break down, clarify, and map your business processes to help clients say “yes” to working with you.

We can co-create an infographic or visual map for use in a presentation or to supplement a publication. Infographics visualize data in ways that are lively, engaging, and welcoming.

Infographics help you tell your story – and help your audience connect with and remember your story.

Going Beyond the Executive Summary

Réseau ACCESS Network developed a Hepatitis C Community Care Toolkit. In collaboration with the Sudbury jail, they developed a community care model that increased testing rates, improved patient access to care, coordinated case management, and offered culturally appropriate support.

When they were ready to share the outcomes of their community-focused work, they wanted to go beyond a report. They wanted a community-focused way of telling the story of their work.

Together, we discussed key images and ideas. I interviewed their team so I could include details that you wouldn’t necessarily find in a report: the literal boots on the ground, the interactions with nurses and patients, the welcoming faces of outreach workers.

Journey Map for Mental Health Research

The Psychological Trauma and Stress Systems (PTSS) Lab at the University of Regina has been advancing mental health for trauma-exposed professionals and breaking barriers for public safety personnel in mental health research. The PTSS Lab has a large interdisciplinary team of researchers who have conducted focused research, mental health monitoring systems, emotional skills resiliency training, and more.

With a lot of moving parts, collaborative grants, and partnerships, they often hear the question: But what exactly is PTSS Lab?

I worked closely with the PTSS Lab leadership team to create an infographic that would help them answer this question. Through interviews with the team and reviewing their materials, I synthesized their many projects into a journey map that captures what they have done and, importantly, where they are going.

Visualizing a Growing Library Collection

When the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library finished a self-study on their growing rare book and archival collections, expanding public outreach, and reference programs, they wanted to share their data with patrons.

I collaborated with the Fisher team to create an infographic for The Halcyon, their twice-annual newsletter for friends of the library. The infographic summarizes a year of data collection in a lively way that welcomes readers into the information — and into the library.

Infographics Make Training Stick

Training sessions can pack a lot of information into a short window of time. Infographics can help trainees learn effectively, remember key lessons, and have an energizing reminder of the session.

I created the Facilitation for Research Teams to accompany a one-hour training for a the Institutional Strategic Initiatives Community of Practice at the University of Toronto. Yes, the infographic was more engaging than slides. But it’s also pinned up on cubicle walls all over the university.

Workshop Journey Map

What does a workshop or program look like? How does it feel to go through the process?

A journey map can help potential clients visualize what it is like to work with you.

For the Critical Digital Humanities Initiative’s Digital Research Storytelling Workshop, I created a visual journey map to share the steps of the multi-week workshop. Clients can see what the workshop is about and what they will learn at-a-glance.

Bonus points: it looks great as a cute postcard!
